Pumpkin season is here and we have a fun project coming up! The Pumpkin Book Project is a book report that your child needs to complete at home. Students need to complete the following directions:
1. Choose a book for your book report. The book can be a library book or one you have at home.
2. Read your book or have an adult read your book to you.
3. Complete the title page and story map.
4. Choose a character from the book you read and decorate a pumpkin to look like your character. Use the “pumpkin project blueprint” to sketch out ideas and make a list of supplies that you will need. You do not need to return the blueprint to school. It is recommended that you use a foam pumpkin as the real ones do not last very long. Foam pumpkins can be found at most craft stores. You will find sample pumpkins at the back of this packet. Below is a list of supplies others have used in the past. You may find it useful for generating ideas.
paint
googly eyes
yarn
felt
feathers
glitter
construction paper
pipe cleaners
fur
fabric
buttons
glue
markers
pom poms
wigs
cotton balls
stickers
props (glasses, crowns, jewelry, etc.)
Please bring a copy of the book to display with your completed project. Be creative and have fun! I can’t wait to see the results. Pumpkin book report projects are due Monday, October 24th and will be set up for parents to view during the Halloween party the following Monday.
